Put Jim Anderton in Jail for his Crimes Against Humanity.

Jim Anderton, former Deputy Prime Minister of ...Image via Wikipedia On Sunday last I was speaking at St Mary's Catholic Church Hall in New Brighton launching informally my third Christchurch City Mayoral campaign... just as the UK's Guardian/Observer was publishing an opinion piece that cited LEAP colleagues of mine.  [retired judge Maria Lucia Karam]

Amongst other things of high import to the October postal election I argued that Hon Jim Anderton has no place being rewarded with the Mayoralty of my home town for the legacy of failure that he had both responsibility for (assoc Min of Health)  and under his watch saw the ramping up of drug prohibition. (like banning BZP despite 'best practice' recommendations to put it in Class D)

I was applauded for having the courage to postulate, were cannabis put under Anderton's "restricted substances regulations" [cf: Class D], would the Police dog "Gage" be alive or dead today?  If the answer is ALIVE, then you cannot vote for and thus reward failure.

DHB candidates survey

Post in DHB candidates survey: : E-Democracy.Org Forums

Canterbury DHB candidates might like to respond to the 'claim' that a significant percentage of the health vote (70% according to the National Health Service in the UK) is expended in alcohol related contingencies and this 'preventable' administrative and environmental burden falls under the brief of 'HEALTHY CHRISTCHURCH" participants, including CDHB and CCC.
And if so... do said DHB candidates bring ANY expertise to the table surrounding efficacy of 'drug policy' laws exacted under warrant of the Minister of Health [not Justice] currently in wide disrepute ?
OR
acknowledge any merit in fostering 'cultural linkages' via the Sister Cities programme exploring why Seattle's entire health and law sector addressed themselves to these pressing issues ?
(details re:Seattle' institutional, civic and civil support can be found at http://www.blair4mayor.com/ )
sig: "Mayor Blair" Anderson,
[Blair Anderson, who officially and at the request of 200 participating organisations and 'sponsors' in Christchurch including but not limited to CCC and Chair of Healthy Christchurch, Mayor Garry Moore, CEO Community and Public Health, Evon Currie, and others, was directed, absent ANY evidence or robust due process to live in UNHEALTHY CHRISTCHURCH for the societaly disruptive proselytising^ of 'health promotion, and the removal of identified impediments under Ottawa Charter principles'.]
Non-Candidate readers may wish to forward this email/link to standing candidates for comment.
^according to internal Healthy ChCh memo widely distrubuted throughout Christchurch.

Nominations Now Open for Local Government Candidates

Christchurch City Council media release , 24 Jul 2007.

Now is your chance to give local politics a go and have a say in the future of your City. Nominations for candidates wishing to stand in this year's local authority elections have now opened.
The electoral officer (Max Robertson) says anyone wishing to stand as a candidate for the Christchurch City Council or for their local community board should get their nominations in now. Nominations close on Friday 24 August. "We are encouraging anyone who wants to make a difference in the local community to stand. After all, local government and local democracy are fundamental to our society giving the opportunity for everyone's voice to be heard. The mayor, councillors and community board members take on a leadership role in Christchurch representing the views of the community," Mr Robertson says.

"We need a range of elected members of different ages, ethnicities and backgrounds to represent the diversity of our community. Anyone over the age of 18 can stand for election as long as they are a New Zealand citizen and enrolled on the electoral roll."

Voting documents will be sent out from 21 September 2007 and must be mailed in time to reach the electoral officer by midday on Election Day, Saturday 13 October 2007.
